About Us
Meet the Photographer
Hi friends, my name is Kristen and I'm the face behind the camera. Backroad Galleries was founded on a burning passion for photography. From an early age, I've loved taking photos. My first camera was a little pink one. I filled up memory cards with my dog, cats, cows and sunsets. I've recently upgraded my subjects to humans, and I'm loving the change of pace. As cheesy as it sounds, I love freezing those little moments in time for you to cherish forever. Sure, you'll remember the times when your littles were still little, but will you have photos of it? You can use your iPhone, yes, but will Mom, Dad, and littles be in the photos? That's where photographers become so important. Creating and delivering those little moments (that are actually big moments) is my favorite thing to do. I'd describe my type of photography as "lifestyle." In other words, I like capturing authentic, in-between moments. I'll get some of the more "posed" shots too, but you will most likely see more "unposed" photos in your finished gallery.
A few random facts about me:
1. I have been raised on a farm my whole life; hence the name "Backroad" Galleries - most of the sessions with me take place somewhere along a back road.
2. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll more than likely find me with my cattle. You can find some of my favorite cattle photos in the "PRINTS" tab at the top of the page. If you love cows as much as I do, you can purchase prints and hang them in your home/office/wherever you'd like!
3. Most people say their favorite "season" is Fall... and I agree with them. Kind of. It's a beautiful time of year. But when asked about MY favorite season... I typically respond with "calving."
4. I have a pet raccoon. She's pretty much the coolest thing ever. We have two dogs as well. And a TON of barn cats.
5. If I won the lottery, I'd build an animal shelter...and then rescue ALL the puppers and kitties.
There you have it. 5 random facts about me. I encourage you to reach out with any other questions you may have! I cannot wait to capture your memories!
